Wollstonecraft, Complete Works
English writer, philosopher and pioneering advocate of women’s rights, Mary Wollstonecraft wrote novels, treatises, a travel narrative, a history of the French Revolution and a children’s book. In her landmark feminist text, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), Wollstonecraft argued that women are not naturally inferior to men, but appeared to be only because they lacked education. She called for men and women to be treated equally, paving the way for the emergence of the feminist movement at the turn of the twentieth century.
